Mohalla Library

mohall-pustakalay-3Mohalla libraries sponsored and supported by the Foundation are located in 9 different parts of the city. The libraries are established by taking into account the dedication and competence of the volunteers for the libraries who provide dedicated space for library in their house. These libraries help the youth in the locality to gather together read, play and discuss issues of common interest.

 

 

 

mohalla-pustakalay-1Mohalla Pustkalya as they are called, is a unique programme of Ajit Foundation. The readers residing at a distance from Ajit Foundation can also benefit from the various activities of the Foundation and organize many more on their own initiative. It may be noted that 7 out of 9 mohalla purtakalaya are looked after by women volunteers. For effective functioning and to provide for the mohalla libraries a few assets have been provided to the community libraries by the Foundation. These include, (i) Around 300 books (ii) 4 Newspapers and Magazines (iii) one table and a couple of chairs (iv)Book Shelf (v) Clock (vi) Notice Board (vii) Indoor Games such as Carrom, Chess etc (viii) toys for children. During the celebration of the Annual Day of the Foundation, the readers associated with these libraries organize cultural activities in their respective libraries. During the year 2015-16, adolescents and youth from Swami Mohalla library performed folk dance, Murlidhar Vyas library organized painting competition, and members of Chungar library held singing performance.

Chal-Phal – The Magazine of the Mohalla Centre

Reflecting the unique nature of the mohalla centre is the centre’s magazine Chal-Phal, it is brought out through the contributions of the various members of the community library. A book containing the poems that have appeared in Chal-Phal has been published, making many of the library members – a published poet!
